Harry’s is the perfect place for your next event. For smaller gatherings, our restaurant comfortably seats up to 10 guests who can pre-order from our à la carte menu, or if you’re hosting a larger celebration, our private dining room is the ideal setting, with space for up to 30 people. From birthday parties and leaving dos to the annual Christmas bash, guests can pick two or three courses from our Party & Event Menu. We’re here to make it even more memorable so if you have a Harry’s classic in mind, just give us a call - we can’t wait to make your event extra special.

Parties and events

For events with up to 30 guests, you can dine from our specially selected Parties & Events menu, which allows each guest to pick two or three courses of their liking. Our menu is seasonal, so some dishes might change to reflect the freshest local produce throughout the year. And remember, pre-orders are essential.

Bespoke menu

We welcome parties of up to 30 guests, usually in our private dining room. Exclusive use of the restaurant can also be arranged if you’re looking for an extra special celebration. We’re more than happy to offer a bespoke menu tailored to you, so if you have a long-standing Harry’s favourite, don’t be afraid to ask. Again, pre-orders are essential.

Founded in 1993 by the Pounds family, Harry’s is still independently owned and run today. The eclectic restaurant, bar and private dining room all sit within the iconic gothic style building, formerly Harry Hems’ 19th century architectural sculptors

Harry’s is a highly unusual find in Exeter city centre. Where the chains have devoured so many indies in the Devon capital, Harry’s has remained a family-run restaurant and the discerning local’s go-to for 30 years.

A perennial favourite with university students (and their parents), set in a marvellous building that dates from 1883, designed as a wood and stone carving workshop for the sculptor Harry Hems. Although the hammering stopped long ago, it remains a noisy place, with lots of birthday parties and celebrations, but the food is carefully sourced and meticulously presented. Pop idol Will Young cleared tables here when he was a student.

Waiting for our mains to arrive at Harry’s restaurant, I feel like a kid at the grown-ups’ table.

If ever a placed qualified for the immutable rule of taking for granted things on your own doorstep, then Harry’s Restaurant in Exeter must be a top contender.

The menu ranges from expertly cooked steaks to falafel burgers and vegetarian mezze platters. The atmosphere is definitely one of the best in the city as well, with candlelit tables and eclectic decor in a gothic-style 19th-century building.

This buzzy independent restaurant just outside the heart of Exeter’s city centre knows how to make diners happy. Whatever you do, just make sure you order the choc ’n’ nut cookie for dessert (trust us, it’s worth the 15-minute wait).
